How often do I need to change my filter?
We recommend to change your filter every 60-90 days. This will make your system work more efficiently.
What is the warranty on my unit?
The warranty starts on the date of installation. The warranty term can be found on the label of the installation manual for your unit. You will need to have the model and serial number of your unit, which can be found on the unit’s data-plate. The manufacturer’s warranty covers most mechanical parts. Normally the warranty covers all parts up to 10 years. Some manufacturers offer only 5 years but it will depend on the brand you pick. Please check with your installing contractor for information on any extended warranties.
Where can I get parts for my heating and air conditioning equipment?

What is HVAC?
HVAC is short for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
Why can't you add coolant to my system without checking for a leak or repairing an exiting leak?
it's illegal to release refrigerant into the atmosphere because it will cause severe damage to the ozone layer. When refrigerants are removed, certain techniques have to be uses such as a recovering machine, a recover tank has to be used in the process, and recycled.
How long will my system last?
Proper maintenance is important. Maintenance and service is the most important in your heating or air conditioning system. If the maintenance is done correctly your system can last up to 20 years.

What is R-22?
R-22 is the name for hydro-chlorofluorocarbon. R-22 is used as a refrigerant by HVAC manufacturers for over many years,
What is R-410A?
R-410A is the common name for an emerging hydro-fluorocarbon (HFC) that is being used as a refrigerant in the HVAC industry. R-410A is more environmentally friendly.
Should a thermostat be set to “auto” or “on”?
At Sunset Heating and Cooling we recommend the auto setting because it's the most efficient setting. That way, the fan operates only when the temperature requires it. Having it on the auto setting will also save you more energy.
What do I do if my thermostat is blank?
Some thermostats require Battery’s. If your thermostat is blank you should change them. If your thermostat does not take battery’s call us at 949-302-3473 for service.
